In the exhibition SCARLET Francesca Sostar explores personal memories especially those shaped by queerness and home life. Themes of dysphoria, invisibility & identity appear from these narrative, cinematic vignettes. Memories overtime can become charged and the emotions we felt then can trap the memories in place. Instead of evolving, they freeze creating a state of paralysis. It poses the question — are we in charge of our identity or is it dictated by our experiences?

Scarlet lives inside those questions, exploring the tension between memory and identity, between the subject and the environment that formed them.
